The RØDE VideoMic is a professional-quality 1/2” condenser shotgun microphone for use with consumer video cameras and personal audio recorders. The integrated Rycote® Lyre® shock mount effectively isolates the VideoMic’s capsule and electronics from the metal shoe and thus from external physical factors that can degrade recording quality through vibration and hum. Made from a durable one-piece thermoplastic, the Lyre® cradle provides superior acoustic suspension over traditional elastic suspensions because it will not wear, sag, or break. The standard-sized shoe has a 3/8” thread for mounting on a mic stand or boom pole. With a supercardioid polar pattern, the VideoMic focuses on the subject in front of the capsule and minimizes ambient noise from the sides and rear. In addition to a 40Hz~20kHz bandwidth, it features a switchable low-cut filter (80Hz) to cut out low-frequency noise from air conditioning or traffic, for example. A level attenuation switch (–10dB or –20dB) is located in the battery compartment and allows recording of high-level sources such as concerts or car races.
